Which pan to choose?

When we go to buy a frying pan, many doubts arise: what material to choose, what size or even if it is worth investing a little more or buying a basic one. Bra helps you choose the frying pan that best suits you!

The first question: What material to choose?

A very common question is whether to buy a non-stick pan or a non-stick stainless steel pan. Both options are valid and our recommendation is to use both depending on the use we will give to the pan.

NON-STICK FRYING PANS

Non-stick pans are practical, easy to use and very convenient . All Bra non-stick pans have high-quality coatings, 100% PFOA-free and free of toxic materials, with excellent non-stick properties and durability. They are ideal for everyday use for all types of recipes and especially suitable for foods that stick easily (such as white fish or omelettes).

FRYING PANS WITH NON-STICK CERAMIC

Bra also has pans with cutting-edge ceramic non-stick coating, which are more environmentally sustainable because their non-stick coating does not contain PTFE (which is not easy to recycle). In addition to being PFOA and PTFE-free, our Life collection is made from 100% certified recycled cast aluminium, which further helps to generate a lower environmental impact.

STAINLESS STEEL FRYING PANS

Stainless steel pans are ideal for high-temperature cooking (such as deep-frying or grilling) and are very durable. Since they do not have a non-stick coating, we can use any utensil to cook with them and they do not require as much care as a non-stick pan. On the other hand, since they do not have a non-stick coating, they require a period of adaptation and are not recommended as the only option in the kitchen .

Traditional frying pan, high skillet or grill

Another question to ask yourself when choosing the most suitable pan is what you usually cook with it. Making an omelette is not the same as grilling a steak, roasting chicken or vegetables in the oven or preparing meatballs with sauce. Any of these dishes can be made in a pan, but not all of them can be made in the same pan.

  • If you primarily sauté, fry or grill, a traditionally designed pan , with low, slightly concave sides, is a perfect choice.
  • If you are looking for a pan to make omelettes and be able to flip them easily, or you value the possibility of cooking with an oven effect, double pans are an excellent option for you.
  • If you are looking for a pan to cook soupy dishes or dishes with sauce , without fear of spills, a tall pan , which has higher walls, would be the best alternative.
  • If you want a pan in which to cook meat, fish or vegetables only on the grill , a good recommendation is a pan with a wide base or a grill , either smooth or with a ridged grill-type base.

What size do you need?

To choose the right size for your pan, you have to take into account the number of people in the house, the portions you usually prepare and the size of the food you are cooking. For example, if you are cooking for two, the ideal size would be a pan measuring 20 cm to 24 cm; these sizes are also ideal for sautéing, frying or making omelettes, and they are usually the most functional pans. But if you are going to grill two steaks, or a whole piece of fish, these sizes would be small. In this case, the ideal would be a pan with a larger diameter, at least 26 or 28 cm.
