Silicone has some fantastic properties. It has great temperature resistance (it can be used at minus 40 degrees and up to 230º), lasts a lifetime, is odourless, tasteless and non-corrosive. It's, of course, also fully safe for food use.
The end of the handle is made of beech wood and boasts an anti-humidity treatment, and the wooden handle and spatula body are joined through a stainless steel tube.
